Action-led Research

Research is a major driver of social and technological innovation that can lead to health and equity improvements through a knowledge-to-action process. SSI actively engages in applied research in response to locally identified priority health problems.

Our research programs are designed to investigate global health issues often left side-lined by researchers in the “developed” world. Scientists and public health professionals in our California, Egypt and Nicaragua offices are currently involved in a wide range of research in 3 major areas:

1. Neglected Infectious Diseases (dengue, influenza, Chikungunya, Hep C)
2. Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) for Health
3. Community based participatory disease prevention approaches
