SSI has a wide range of partners and collaborators through our various programs and primary research projects around the world. We believe that strengthening networks of researchers, health professionals, and global health advocates is a critical component of our work.

University of California Berkeley’s School of Public Health has had a long-term collaboration with SSI. President Dr. Eva Harris (Professor) and Executive Director Dr. Josefina Coloma (Project Scientist) run an interdisciplinary Dengue research program and are faculty in the Division of Infectious Diseases and Vaccinology.

Ibrahim El-Hefni Technical Training Foundation (TTF) has been a partner of SSI since our inception in 1998 providing great support for Egypt and other SSI Programs. TTF runs science and environmental education programs for youth in the US and sponsors science training programs for teachers in Africa. In healthcare, TTF promotes technical training for nurses and technicians and is deeply committed to advancing medical research in viral hepatitis and other liver diseases.

University of Michigan is a SSI partner as of 2014. The influenza research program in SSI Nicaragua is led by Dr. Aubree Gordon Assistant Professor of Epidemiology at Michigan’s University School of Public Health.

Council on Health Research for Development (COHRED) provides resources, publications and advice for countries and development partners who are active in strengthening national systems for health research.

Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative (DNDi) is an independent, non-profit drug development institute that aims to develop new, improved, and field-relevant drugs for neglected diseases that afflict the very poor in developing countries.

Tiba Foundation is a non-profit organization that builds health infrastructure and provides healthcare services to residents of Ugenya, a particularly impoverished community in western Kenya.

Molecular Biology Center (MBC) is a apolitical, non-governmental, private, non-profit research organization. The primary mission of MBC is to contribute to the sustainable development of molecular biology research in Cameroon.

Scientists Without Borders aims to mobilize and coordinate science-based activities that improve the quality of life in the developing world. The organization is based on the idea that the research community is already promoting areas such as global health, agricultural progress, and environmental well-being, but current communication gaps restrict its power. Scientists Without Borders seeks to fill this gap by building a web portal whose cornerstone is a database that matches needs with resources.

Seeding Labs reclaims high-quality used laboratory equipment from universities in the greater Boston area and sends it to scientists in developing countries to help them carry out first-rate scientific and biomedical research.

Hesperian Foundation works to provide information and educational tools that help all people take greater control over their health and work to eliminate the underlying causes of poor health. Hesperian produces and shares easy-to-understand health information for people worldwide.
